Under the bonnet:  The Rio is available with Kia’s familiar and popular powerplants which includes the 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre MPI petrol engines.  The 1.25-litre produces peak power of 61kW at 6 000rpm and 120Nm at 4 000rpm and power is transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The body shell is constructed with inherent safety as  a priority thanks to the use of 51% Advanced High Strength Steel which gives the Rio the structural integrity required to keep occupants safe in case of an accident. Along with driver and passenger airbags the Rio features front seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiters, side door impact beams. Isofix child seat anchors are standard across the range as is ABS.
